“Treehotel” in Harads — the unique way of accommodation
Imagine waking up in the middle of the forest, high up in the treetops. No car noise, no hustle and bustle. Instead: creaking wood, the rustling of birch trees, the call of a jay. Welcome to Treehotel Harads* in northern Sweden — a place that rethinks the dream of a tree house: spectacular, sustainable and very close to nature.
In Harads, a village with around 500 inhabitants, futuristic architecture, visions of nature and a child’s thirst for adventure come together. Each of the tree houses is a work of art in its own right. Designed by renowned architects from all over the world, they float between pine trees without upsetting the environment. A place that inspires. And certainly won’t let you go.
The “Treehotel” in Sweden — who invented it?
The inventors and owners of the “Treehotel” in Harads are the married couple Britta and Kent Lindvall. The unusual idea for the “Treehotel” was born out of a love of nature and after filming in Harads and the surrounding area for the movie “The Tree Lover” by Jonas Selberg Augustsén, for which a tree house was built. The Lindvalls thought the tree house was beautiful and too good to be torn down, so they quickly rented it out to their pension guests, who enthusiastically accepted the tree house. And so the idea of the “Treehotel” took its course.
Each of the tree houses in the “Treehotel” is an individually designed building. The size varies between 15 square meters and 75 square meters. The names were given to match the shape of the tree houses, and the interior furnishings, which are made of purely natural materials, were also adapted to the style of the respective tree house.
